Leading delivered diet company, Diet Chef, has been ranked as one of Britain’s fastest growing private companies in The Sunday Times Virgin Fast Track 100 league table. Diet Chef was a new entry at number three, following growth of 229% from an annualised £334,000 in 2008 to £11.9m in 2011.
Founded in 2007 by Kevin Dorren and Andrew Veitch, Diet Chef has quickly established itself as Britain’s largest home delivered diet company. In 2010, Piper, the consumer brand specialist, provided growth funding to the business to facilitate its next stage of development, with £4m invested to date. Distribution has increased, with expansion into Germany at the start of 2011 now contributing over £1m sales. Diet Chef employs 60 staff, including nutritionists and chefs, from its headquarters in Edinburgh.
Kevin Dorren, Diet Chef founder, said: “We are delighted to have been placed so high on such a prestigious list, particularly during this challenging economic period. This success demonstrates our commitment to our customers to ensure we provide an affordable and enjoyable diet solution. Our continued growth this year alone is key in enabling us to dominate the delivered diet market.”
Libby Gibson, of Piper, commented: “We are very pleased for Kevin and the Diet Chef team – this achievement is richly deserved. Diet Chef is growing fast in the UK and the recent launch in Germany, where the market is much bigger, has been extremely successful. We look forward to continuing to work closely with the founders to build the team and refine and develop the brand to continue meeting its customers’ needs.”
