Yard Sale Pizza
We are delighted to announce our investment in Yard Sale Pizza, London’s favourite neighbourhood pizza brand, to fund growth across the capital and into new UK cities. Renowned for its high-quality toppings, giant 18-inch pizzas, and market-leading collaborations with cult restaurants and content creators, Yard Sale has carved out a unique space in the pizza delivery market.
Founded in 2013 by Johnnie Tate and Nick Buckland, the brand began life in Johnnie’s Clapton backyard. Since then, it has grown steadily to 14 shops across East, North and South London, including a record-breaking opening in Earlsfield in March 2025. Turnover is now £13m.
Yard Sale operates an in-house team of e-bike delivery drivers, hired locally and given the same benefits as the hourly kitchen teams. All pizzas are handmade, designed to travel, and delivered in just 24 minutes on average – including their signature 18-inch pizzas, which are too large for third-party delivery platforms. With a Net Promoter Score of 73 and exceptional customer loyalty, Yard Sale is redefining neighbourhood delivery with its ‘Dough to Door’ experience.
While many delivery brands take a centralised approach, Yard Sale’s local-first ethos is core to its DNA. Each site is uniquely designed to fit the local area, and customers can dine-in at most locations. The brand partners with more than 160 pubs and bars across London, letting customers enjoy Yard Sale pizzas at their local. It has also raised over £90,000 for charities and delivered 8,000+ meals to NHS staff during the pandemic, all part of staying rooted in the communities it serves.
Yard Sale’s bold menu, from its cult Holy Pepperoni to Marmite & Cheese Garlic Bread, and its ever-changing lineup of collaborations, have earned Yard Sale a devoted following. Past partners include Amelia Dimoldenberg (Chicken Shop Date), James Acaster & Ed Gamble’s Off Menu podcast, and food icons such as Ottolenghi, Roti King, and Bleecker Burger. Yard Sale has also collaborated with global brands like Netflix, F1, and Tabasco. A recent Jameson x What Willy Cook spice bag pizza demonstrates their position in the cultural zeitgeist.
Our investment will help Yard Sale expand further across London and into new cities. We will also support investment in technology to enhance Yard Sale’s seamless and personalised customer experience and their innovation in collaborations and partnerships. Co-founders Johnnie Tate and Nick Buckland will continue to lead the brand alongside Chair Paul Campbell, who has worked closely with the business over recent years.
This is our sixth investment from our seventh fund and continues our long-standing support of ambitious hospitality brands. We have previously backed some of the UK’s most iconic hospitality brands, including Flat Iron, Loungers, Hickory’s Smokehouse, Be At One, Turtle Bay, and Las Iguanas.
Yasha Estraikh, Associate Partner at Piper, who led the deal and will be joining as NED, commented: “We’ve been tracking Yard Sale for some time, and the consistent love for the brand from customers was impossible to ignore. We’re excited to work with the team to scale Yard Sale’s winning formula – delivering delicious pizza for everyday sharing moments via a memorable delivery experience to neighbourhoods across the UK. It’s already well on its way to becoming a brand legend.”
“We are excited to be entering this new era for Yard Sale with Piper’s investment. Since we first met, Piper’s understanding, enthusiasm and shared vision for the business has been clear. Piper have a proven track record in scaling exceptional brands, and I am delighted to be partnering with them for our next phase of growth. As we continue to obsess over delivering the very best pizzas, this partnership will allow us to reach even more local neighbourhoods across London & the UK. Finally, a big shout out to the whole team at Yard Sale, you are the key to our success now and in the future!”
